The writing is a bit preachy, but its OK.The Takeaway: Easy to read, engaging, if a bit pedantic. I think that is the best idea of the book.He hardest thing for me has been balancing his ideas at work, where they have been very successful for me, and at home where there are still lots of things to get done. So do it now.

While it mentions working out your life goals and the bigger parts of being happy, the book excels in how to prioritize and clean put your in-box.Details: Allen clearly describes his system for getting control of all the over-communication we have to deal with in the modern office. He strongly believes that if you can do a small task in under 2 minutes, do it now (unless the next meeting you have starts in 2 minutes). Summary: This book focuses on how to get organized from the ground level up.

The time spent remembering and the energy wasted to make sure you don't forget this mini-task adds up to more time than the tasks takes. But I enjoyed it and it has made me more productive and less stressed. He recommends organizing your calendar, task and most importantly your email box in specific ways.

I tried his recommendation and I feel that I am just as organized, but more importantly it takes me a lot less effort.

Although, I greatly appreciate you expediting the shipping of one of the items, I would recommend allowing or giving customers the option of combining all orders into the minimum amount of boxes and shipments.I also have never received an order with packaging, but in case you do not use starch-packing peanuts, please consider incorporating them as well.Thank you.(I didn't purchase the selected item) I could not figure out any other way of sharing this information/concern. I selected to have both of the items I ordered shipped together because that's more efficient and environmentally effective.

Even if you don't use the prescribed system from the book it offers a great deal of insight into organizational challenges. A lot of simple, useful tips. I've read this book many times and always get a little more depth out of it.

Fourth, regularly review the progress you are making and re-negotiate your priorities. Though already a fairly organized person, I found GTD invaluable. Do you feel like your schedule is dictated by the tyranny of the urgent. He is patient and walks you through the entire process. Does your life feel disorganized.

It could literally change your life.Early on, the author gives a five-step process to getting control of your life. At first, the workflow chart may resemble an engineering schematic, but it's actually a template of simple ideas that can be adapted to any profession, from stay at home mom to Fortune 500 CEO. I quickly implemented many of Allen's ideas and am already reaping the benefits of a clearer mind and more organized life and ministry. Fifth, go and do it.The rest of the book unpacks these five principles with many helpful step-by-step instructions and examples. He doesn't just tell you; he shows you.

Is your inbox overflowing and desk growing more and more cluttered. First, he says to collect every single item or `open loop' in life that commands your attention and is sapping your energy. He knows that by the time you pick up his book you may already be overwhelmed and on the brink of burnout. Do you tend to put things off until the very last minute. One thing can be said about David Allen: he takes nothing for granted. Third, go deeper by organizing the results.

Then take the time to read this book. Second, begin to systematically process what each item means and what to do about it.

Just using some of Allen's tips and tricks can prove very useful. The only challenge I see with implementing GTD in full, is having 1-2 days to properly setup the system in the first place. I first read Getting Things Done 6 years ago, and the book literally changed my life. I've recommended this book to many clients, most of which are time-deprived owners of emerging enterprises. Most people, particularly business owners, lack the available time to do it properly. With the arrival of my second child, I knew my procrastinating ways would cause trouble down the road. One of the best aspects of GTD is that you don't have to use it in full to get something out of it.
